Not really sure how to get reacclimated here. I am so out of practice in remembering to check dreamwidth, and posting here seems intimidating when I'm so used to short-form, between twitter & discord & text. (Also I miss my mood foxies from lj, aww.)

I have been to a bunch of cons lately. Too many, honestly; I got completely overwhelmed and have spent the past week and a half wanting to burrow into my bed and do nothing to recover. Before I went into 'nooooooo' mode I had gotten writing much more & much more regularly by starting on 4thewords, which is AWESOME. I'm going to try to get back to writing regularly there; they're just starting a month-long event in conjunction with Camp NaNoWriMo, so there's incentive to be over there churning through the limited-term quests while they're active. I am working on a music exchange which is due, well, technically tonight but in practice I can submit it before Friday and it'll be ok. I had a false start which I really like but wasn't coming together, but I started on a second idea which has fallen into place quite quickly. Tomorrow I'll tighten it up further when my ears are fresh and I'm not feeling bored by it because I've listened too many times in a row. I am discovering that I really don't know how to do anything musically except fugues, but also fugues are great so oh well. Just endless cello fugues as far as the eye can see: my musical brand, apparently.

Some time I'll learn how to do the kind of stuff I like listening to and that'll change. Maybe.

I'm looking forward to the summer session of ! I need to clear out enough brainspace to actually do it, which seems difficult but will probably seem more plausible when I'm not up to my eyeballs in an in-progress song. But goodness vidding again sounds lovely! I have done very little ever and none in over a decade, how did that even happen I ask you.

At con.txt someone offered to help me find the one last song I need to finish the This Is How You Lose The Time War fanmix I have been working on for two years as of next month and I am so excited about having someone else offer to take a look for me it is absurd. I just want it done so much! But apparently not enough to lower my standards and just call whatever adequate! Also I need to either finish the original cover or draw the new one. Whoops.

Next week I am getting on a plane. I am not happy about this, but I am fully vaxxed & will be extensively masked and the alternative is 71+ hours on a train (which normally I'd prefer, but if I freak out that's a LOT of time to be unable to cope) or not being there for my dad post-surgery, so. Plane. (Yikes. So much yikes.)

To end on a happier note, I am amused by my 'making' icon (a shower of sparks coming off an angle grinder) and hope to actually get to work with metal again some day.
