Festivids placeholder post!

quinnishHi vidder!! Thank you for offering to vid a thing for me! I should have my letter up probably by Saturday but definitely before the end of the weekend. Apologies for the delay! I'm up to my eyeballs in Halloween prep, whoops! ETA: I am a liar about time, I'm so sorry. It's here now? It's not you, it's 100% my overcommitted ADHD self. I still love you!
General vid likes: Musicality! Movement & bold stylistic choices, but primarily anchored in musicality. I just love musicality so so so so much. I like when the motion in a vid both internal to a clip and between clips is playing with the music.
I like queerness and found family and community and joy, and absurdity and shitposting and earnestness and messy mixes of all those things. I like vids, and I like exchanges, and I am excited about Festivids!!
Audio accessibility: I generally prefer not including dialogue, but I'm open to your vision! That said, if you're going to use any overlapping sounds (multiple music choices, dialogue, sound effects, whatever) please adjust audio levels so that one thing is clear at a time. I have a very difficult time with dialogue over music in such a way that I can't understand what is being said.
I also have an ear injury that means that things becoming suddenly unexpectedly louder midway through can be very painful. (In more technical terms, a relatively low dynamic range is ideal; honestly most commercially-produced music is absolutely fine with the exception of some metal, punk (not pop-punk), and noise [genre] production choices.) I do have trouble with a range of timbres, production choices, and recording quality I have a hard time putting into words; an example of something which is professionally produced but I physically cannot listen to is Fye Fye by Tobe Nwigwe. (Nothing against the song! Just a specific example I happen to have handy of something which my ear injury cannot tolerate.) I know I've run into this with some 90s industrial goth music as well (but only some!), but I unfortunately haven't kept a list. If you're unsure about a sound or music choice, please consultziz. They're happy to assist and have a robust understanding of the specifics.
To be clear, this is an occasional problem not a constant one, I just want to flag it!
Visual accessibility: I personally am not aware of having photosensitivity concerns as applies to vids, and tend in fact to like stylistic choices involving fast cuts and bright colors and such. (Not exclusively, to be clear!) I do prefer things not be so color-shifted that I can't pick out details, but some amount of color filter is fine.
Onto the specific requests!
Dirty Computer - It's so pretty! And witty! And queer!!! The only thing stopping me from vidding this myself is getting hung up in the way it already does that, and I am super intrigued and enthused about what you might do with it. I love it completely -- I love the characters, the relationships, the plot, the themes, the visuals, the visual style. I'm all-in. Have a blast.
Everything Everywhere All at Once - AAAAAH THIS MOVIE!!! Honestly you could super serious or super silly or, like the film, mash those things up until they become a completely inextricable intense experience. I will completely fail to be chill about ALL OF IT regardless.
The Golem and the Jinni - I am so intrigued about how you'd vid this! I'll love anything you come up with.
Gritty RPF - I love the description of Gritty as Philadelphia's genius loci. Yes, good. Please just chew the scenery UP with this, Gritty is so great.
Lizzo RPF - I just want a happy BAMF-y Lizzo vid, you know? Living her best life.
This is How You Lose the Time War - I have no idea how you would vid this but I WANT ANYTHING YOU COME UP WITH. I love this book so much, I made an over-the-top fanmix for it (I will try to actually post soon so you can look at it if that might make you happy or give you ideas, but honestly given my current followthrough don't hold your breath, I'm so sorry).
The Great Canadian Baking Show - More interested in this being baking- and/or mood-focused rather than strongly character-focused, but I'm down for anything. Seriously, do anything I'll love it all.
The Great Pottery Throw Down - Much like the above, I'm vaguely imagining something focused on projects coming together and falling apart and so on, if that makes any sense, but feel free to surprise me!
Three Thousand Years of Longing - I'm going to be honest I haven't actually watched this yet, but I am SO excited for it and the previews look incredible and like it's full of amazing visuals and intense character stuff and I can't wait to see what you come up with.
